In his second round match in Rome Evgeny was defeated by Fernando Gonzalez in two short sets 3/6 2/6.

The first round match of the tournament in Rome brought us an impressive performance by Evgeny. After losing the first set 1/6 Evgeny admirably found his focus throught the two following sets and won the match 6/3 6/4. Now Evgeny will meet Fernando Gonzalez in his match of second round.

Today Evgeny showed a good performance and defeated Jonas Bjorkman in two sets one of which was rather tough - 7/6 6/2. This way Evgeny gets in the main draw. On Monday in his first round match Zhenya will meet another Swede Robin Soderling.

This week Evgeny participates in Internazionali BNL D'Italia held in Rome, Italy. Evgeny starts from qualification where his first round opponent was Russian Andrey Golubev. Evgeny defeated Andrey in an hour - 6/3 6/3. Next is Jonas Bjorkman.

Today Evgeny played his first round match in Munich against German P. Petzschner but unfortunately he lost 4/6 6/0 2/6.

Nicolas Almagro defeated Evgeny 6/1 6/4. Still Evgeny had a very good tournament and showed everyone one more time that he is capable of more. Photo from the match can be seen here.

Evgeny advanced to a semifinal with a wonderful win over Dutchman Robin Haase 7/5 6/4. Now Evgeny will face fifth-seeded Spanish Nicolas Almagro in order to fight for his first ATP final.

That was another great match where Evgeny showed his will-power and concentration and fought till the end, thus the result of the match is not surprising. 6/7 7/6 6/3 - Evgeny moves to quarterfinal where he'll meet Robin Haase (the Netherlands).

Today Evgeny defeated Igor Andreev 6/4 4/6 7/6 in the opening round of the Open de Tenis Comunidad Valencia and is through to the second round where he faces Spanish Daniel Gimeno-Traver. They have played only once - the match took place on clay in Italy in 2005. Evgeny defeated Daniel 6/3 6/3. The match is scheduled to be the last match on the centre court on Thursday.

Today Evgeny starts his performance in Valencia. His first round match will take place on Court 1 where he'll face Russian Igor Andreev. Players have never met before.
